Shat Acres Cinnamon Charles is from the oldest registered fold of Highland cattle in the United States, since 1966. Shat Acres first Highland was born and raised by Baxter Berry at his XX Ranch in South Dakota. Shat Acres is also the oldest closed fold with a closed maternal line for over 45 years.
Charlie's dam is Shat Acres Cinnamon Taffy. Taffy's dam was Shat Acres Cinnamon Swirl, our first NWSS Grand Champion. Cinnamon Swirl was Grand Champion Female in 2004, later winning many Championships in the Cow/calf division. Charlie's sire is Skye High Glen Rock, son of Skye High Cornerstone, winner of many Championships in the show ring. Rocky was purchased by us as a yearling, in 2019. He is from Coldwater, MI. Shat Acres Cinnamon Charles was born on July 15, 2023.
Cinnamon is a farm favorite! She was born on our farm and it has been so fun to watch her personality grow and mature. She loves attention, brushes, scratches, and of course, treats! She loves to follow you around the pasture, checking out whatever it is you are doing. Cinnamon is quick to take the younger calves under her wing and babysit. Her sire is Big Ridge Voodoo Magic, the 2019 International Virtual Highland Cattle Show, 1st place People’s Choice Favorite Sire Award. Magic is well known for exhibiting the important traits of the Scottish Highland Cattle Standards, which include strong muscular neck, broad short head, low wide horn set, short legs, bushy forelock, and a gentle temperament. Cinnamon’s dam is TOR Buttercup, known for her outstanding conformation, wide set horns, docility, gentleness, and mothering instincts. Cinnamon is displaying the desired traits of her sire and dam by having excellent conformation, docility, gentle temperament, short head and legs, and bushy forelock.
Lizzy was born December 4, 2022. She was a really stunning heifer from the very beginning. Now that she is beginning to mature you can see her level topline. Lizzy has a deep body and is maturing more quickly.
Lizzy has a gentle temper with people, but she is displaying leadership skills in the calf pasture. Lizzy has astounding genetic background with BR Voodoo Magic (AI,D) as her sire and Muirneag 3rd of VH as her dam.
Nessa is our “popular, spunky” girl. She is the first one to run up for attention and always the last one to walk away. Nessa can go from being a very mellow love bug to a hyper toddler that loves to run and jump and play! It is always a fun time when Nessa is around. She comes from a phenomenal pedigree and is already displaying the strong traits of great conformation, beautiful topline, docile temperament, and is deep bodied. Her sire is Elm Hollow’s Jager, son of BR Voodoo Magic and grandson of T2 Gorgeous George and Britta of Big Ridge. Her Dam is Lox Leodaig NicAodhan out of the outstanding Locustbrae fold.
Nola is such a docile, sweet girl. She is as mellow as they come. Nola likes to look after the younger calves, making sure they are safe and not wandering too far away. She gets so excited when she sees the brush come out and tries to always be the first in line for pampering. Nola’s remarkable personality is a strong trait of her outstanding lineage. Her sire is 10x Grand Champion, including 2017 and 2018 NWSS Grand Champion Bull, Finley Falls Duncan. Finley Falls Duncan is well known, not only by Highland breeders, but cattlemen nationwide, for his structural soundness, mature growth, and extremely docile nature. Nola’s dam is STR Tula, whose pedigree includes Jock of Glengorm and Diana of Kiyiwana!
Larki has a very curious personality. She loves eating treats from your hand and enjoys following you. around to see what’s going on. She also likes to be the second in command. Her bloodlines are fantastic, as her sire is STR Double Shot, who is the first bull calf sired by the 2015 National Grand Champion Bull and reigning ROE Champion, CBS Yaz’s Yukon Jack. Her dam is NWH Abby Adair. It is a fun experience. Watching her grow and mature into a phenomenal herd cow.
Ivy was never worked with since birth and is very timid and skittish of people. We have been working daily with her and she is coming around really well. Ivy now allows us to brush her, which is a big step for her. She no longer tries to run from us, but instead is trying to figure out what we are doing. I am looking forward to seeing how different her personality will become within the next couple months. She is showing good, strong Highland traits and has nice conformation. Ivy’s sire is Red Rock Earl, who is the son of Boggers WollyBully and Honey Creek Heidi. Her dam is Thist ‘Ole Maggie, daughter of Cheek’s Sunset Xerox and Maple Hill Ms. Dina-Mite.
Ellie Mae is one of our first Highlands on the ranch. She came to us as a very nervous cow that didn’t like to be around people very much. After working with her and gaining her trust, she has become a favorite on our ranch. She loves hearing her named called and will come running up for attention and treats. Ellie is one of the best mama cows that we have had. She will not only take care of her calf, but she likes to mother other calves as well. She makes sure all of the babies are safe and cared for.
Ribeye is a beautiful brindle steer calf. His dam is TOR Ellie Mae and sired by Chance of AAA Quality. He is a very docile calf that is full of energy. We decided to steer him due to our breeding standards. He is a beautiful calf, but not the quality that we would like for our breeding standards.
Spice is our Appaloosa mare. She is a perfect mixture of sweet and sassy. Spice enjoys attentions and treats. She loves watching the cattle and is egear to work them.
Happy is our newest addition to the ranch. He is our Appaloosa gelding. Happy is such a mellow gentleman. He enjoys hanging out with Spice, going for a dip in the pond, and trail ride adventures.
