The Twisted Oaks Ranch

Twisted Oaks Ranch began its start on February 15, 2017. We weren’t quite sure of the path that we wanted to take concerning raising and breeding animals. We began slow and raised chickens, ducks, and turkeys. While that was fun, we were looking for a more rewarding farm experience. So, we added peacocks to our adventure. While peacocks are beautiful to watch, they are not very fun to work with!! We decided to get our first Highland in 2020. In the beginning, we knew absolutely nothing about raising and breeding Highlands. There was a lot of trial and error and asking advice from well-established breeders. Once gaining the knowledge and wisdom from fellow breeders, we decided to sell our original fold and begin new. Our focus is now based on quality genetics, conformation, temperament, and traits. With having many conversations with fellow breeders, we learned that raising Highland cattle is much more than just having a cute, fluffy cow. Now, when we add a new Highland to our fold, we research the lineage, traits, and genetic as far back as we can go to ensure that we are adding quality Highlands to our fold. We have learned that raising and breeding quality Highland cattle was what Twisted Oaks Ranch was meant to do.
